There once was a blue-green world.  Happy.  Content.  Monochrome.  One day a virus invaded and some of the inhabitants began to turn various shades of scarlet.  The afflicted felt their world changing. The redness burned their skin and blurred their vision.  Amazingly, children were most prone to this red disease, becoming infected as they played with other infected children.  Though some remained immune, most were affected to some degree by this alien virus, which did not seem to hurt them beyond the initial symptoms. But it was certain that the world would never be monochromatic again.
